Discussion on I Kings 11
1. Can what happened to Solomon happen to leaders today? Solomon was highly anointed by God? Can the highly anointed, highly successful leaders fail at the end of their lives today?
2. If we place ourselves in the position of Solomon, what can we learn that can help our own lives?
3. Part of the judgment began while Solomon was alive. Rezon and Hadad were seemingly early parts of the judgment. Solomon’s control of the trade routes and its tariffs were immediately effected (both Syria and Edom could tax the major routes coming from Asia Minor and Mesopotamia).
The nation was not split until Solomon died. Why did God delay this part of the judgment?
